Practicing since 1989, Dr. Peñafiel began in the exciting
world of plastic surgery at the same time as his teacher and
personal friend, Dr. J. Mira Gonzalez. Dr. Gonzalez offered
him a 3-month internship as an apprentice in the center that
he directs – The Aragon Medical Center. By the time he
finished his internship, Dr. Peñafiel was deeply involved in
the world of plastic surgery and exceeded the performance of
his competitors. He then obtained a position under the
guidance and orders of Dr. J. Amorrotu Velayos, Chief of
Plastic Surgery in the General Hospital at the University
Valencia, in Spain. He was able to obtain his title of Plastic
Surgeon.
With his altruistic spirit, Dr. Peñafiel practiced in the
Children’s Hospital, Francisco Ycaza Bustamante in Guayaquil,
Ecuador. There he performed ear, lip, and palate
reconstruction, as well as reconstructive surgery on the hands
of children who had suffered severe burns. He accomplished
this regardless of having to work with limited resources.

Currently Dr.
Peñafiel carries on his practice in the city of Guayaquil. Aside from his
personal practice, he stays abreast of the most advanced procedures of
aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery and studies how to apply them in
every aspect of today’s society. Dr. Peñafiel teaches these new methods and
puts them in practice daily and uses his knowledge for humanitarian needs.
His team of
surgeons consists of a group of people who maintain the highest form of
ethical and professional standards.
