Faqs
Dear
patients, here I will try to explain simply and clearly the most
common questions related to all the surgeries that we generally
perform.
Who will
operate on me?
The only
person who operates on his patients is Daniel Peñafiel S., M.D., whom
you have come to look for and in whom you have deposited all your
trust.
I have
many fears, what risks do I run?
A main
part of the success of our operations is unquestionably the mastery of
the use of the anesthesia. We consider that in Plastic Surgery, risks
should not be run. For that reason, we prefer the use of laryngeal
mask and latest generation of gases in all our surgeries, along with
non invasive monitoring, digitized in real time, which reduce the
patient’s risks to practically zero.
What is
the laryngeal mask?
It is a
latest generation instrument for the administration of anesthetic
gases that is introduced into the mouth, contrary to the endotracheal
tube which is an instrument that goes from the mouth to the windpipe.
Where
will they operate on me?
With a
lot of satisfaction and a lot of effort, with the purpose of reducing
the costs, to give all the comforts and mainly all the securities to
our patients, we have implemented a surgical operating room in the
Rendón Clinic. Your surgery will be carried out in here, at the
clinic, where you will feel right at home, and you’ll feel calm and
relaxed until your recovery.
How long
will I be hospitalized?
In almost
all the operations, the patients leave the clinic on the same day,
although in some cases (bigger interventions) they should remain with
us one day more. We do this for your security and for ours.
What
foods can I eat?
Definitely people who have recently been operated on have to eat
gradually; two hours after the surgery they can ingest water by sips.
If they accept it, they can move on to jello, then to soups and,
lastly, to solid foods. There is no restriction as for the type of
foods. Meats are good because they are source of proteins, the same
with eggs and milk. Avoid heavy foods, for example pork or raw
shellfish.
What are
the lymphatic drainages? And what purpose do they serve?
They
serve to reestablish the lymph flow and to better and more quickly
reduce swelling and soreness. That’s why you should appeal to a
specialized cosmetologist, one who will apply the necessary massages
in your post-operative stage.
What does
the cost of my surgery include?
The cost
of your intervention includes: the honorarium of the surgeon, the
anesthesiologist’s, the assistant’s, and the instrumentalist’s, as
well as the consultations that you have with Dr. Peñafiel. The
Clinic’s honorarium is not included because it is variable, nor are
the post-operative medicines, nor the lymphatic drainage included.
If I
undergo liposuction, do I put on weight again?
No, you
will definitely not put on weight again in the area where we extract
the fat. You can gain weight in certain areas, but not in the area
that has been operated.
Do I
have to change implants every two years?
Implants
that you put into your body last for a lifetime. You may change them
only if there’s a rejection – which is very rare - or if you want them
bigger, but it is not necessary to change them.
Can I
receive sunlight after a surgery?
You can
be exposed to the sun for short periods, but you should not receive
sunlight on the beach or on the snow.
If I
receive an operation on my nose and get sunlight, does the tip drop?
No, the
sun only swells the tissues but it neither drops nor twists the nose.
That’s only done in the surgical room.
Can I put
on another person’s fat in my gluteus or in my bust?
No, the lipo-injection of fat should only be done in small amounts and
it should belong to the same person.
